Our Church Covenant

At our Annual Meeting on February 3rd, 2019, Franklin Federated Church adopted our new church covenant. Roughly a year earlier, a small band of Deacons met during a retreat to focus on a new vision of the Church, rooted in a covenant of mutual love, respect and faith. After presenting the covenant to the Church Council, and after an Advent Sermon Series about each point of the covenant by Pastor Charley, we arrived together to vote it from a “proposed” covenant to Our Covenant. We hope this covenant will inform and inspire everything we do. Thanks for reading!

As part of the Franklin Federated Church community, in covenant with God, with one another, and with our community, 

• We promise to share our joys, concerns, questions, and talents with one another.

• We promise to honor and preserve the memories and traditions that are a part of our foundation, but to also adapt to a changing world and take responsibility for our future.

• We promise to care for the wellbeing and education of the youth in our community and create positive opportunities to learn about faith.

• We promise to reach outward to the greater community around us, as well as inward to the congregation that sustains us.

• We promise to come as we are and create a space for others to come as they are without the fear of judgement or condemnation.

• We promise to respect each individual faith journey as a valid, unique and precious relationship with God.

• We promise to walk with one another - in celebration and in sorrow, in confidence and in doubt, in forgiveness and in fellowship, and in the Love of Jesus Christ.

Franklin Federated is a Welcome and Affirming Church. This means we are a member of the Association of Welcoming and Affirming Baptists and the UCC Coalition for LGBT Concerns.
