CONNECT GROUP BOOK STUDY
HOW TO BE AN ANTIRACIST, by Ibram X. Kendi
Thursday nights, 7:00 – 8:30 by Zoom, February 4 through March 11.
Led by Margo Ball and Jean Southard
We probably all agree that racism has been a stain on the conscience of our country from the very beginning, when the first Africans arrived on our shores in chains. While much progress toward equality of the races has been made, as witnessed by our newly inaugurated Vice-President, the violent mob led by white-supremacists in the Capitol two weeks ago should convince us that much remains to be done. Perhaps even worse than a one-time mob is the steady, day-to-day drip of indignities endured by Black people in America as they are constantly being reminded to stay in their place, and the dangers they face doing ordinary activities like jogging or driving. One way we can learn how to do something about this is to read and discuss Ibram X. Kendi’s book, How To Be an Antiracist. We hope you will join us.
To join the group, please send an email before February 1 to Jean Southard at jksouthard@aol.com. Please read the first three chapters by February 4.
