RISING PHOENIX
Symbol etched on a mirror wall,
Crowned head, fierce beak supported by long, powerful neck,
Feet still planted, earthbound
In hot ashes of its own ruin,
Flashing, changing colors denote destroying, cleansing flames
And illumine glass-bound feathers
As Phoenix glares at its devastated world,
Out-stretched wings ready to soar above its own demise,
And rise into a glorious future.
Past destruction, present determination, and future hope,
A crystal parable for those who can see.
